75 minute sermon on the 5 times Jesus gave the great commission

Praying the 5 Great Commissions Sept 26

I hope you are having a great day as you read my 50th blog posting! Thanks for looking and listening and then recommending valuable post to your friends, associates, family and friends.

I just sat down in the study to post this message for you to hear before tonight’s prayer event or during your weekly routine.

This 75 min sermon on the 5 times Jesus issued the great commission was busting out of my chest. I pray that our love for God will result in healthy disciples making healthy disciples resulting in healthy churches.  Try it out and tell me how it works out in your life.  I look forward to an increase of the great discipleship work happening already in our new church!  There is a personal story of one member at the end.

Facebook is down tweets by Huffington Post

There was a global event yesterday.  Facebook was down.  Similarly to the earthquake in Ontario during the World Cup: some people felt it, others didn’t.  Did you feel it?  If you were unaware, then don’t be too sad or too proud.

You’ll “like” these #facebookdown tweets compiled by the Huffington Post from people who did feel it and made fun & savvy writings.  Click through the 20 tweets for a chuckle of social commentary.

Have a great weekend of status updates, profile pictures and comments because I think it is the world’s social network is up again!

Etobicoke Creek Trail Opening Ceremony Video Interview

The Etobicoke Creek Trail was officially opened on Thursday to the delight of many citizens and partners.  I was happy to see local school children running on the new baseball field and seeking geocaching prizes.  This 39 km trail from Toronto’s waterfront to Caledon is aesthetically gorgeous, green smart and represents community building partnership.  It is worth experiencing!

On a personal note, I was honored to be invited  to the opening ceremony by Michael Gusche.  Not only is Michael leading the teams in our church through a $300,000 “building enhancement” project, but now can celebrate 12 years of project leadership culminating in the Grand Opening of the Etobicoke Creek Trail.  Michael is one of the most respected servant leaders in our church.  He also contributes civic leadership at George Bell Arena.  He is a Nehemiah-type gentlemen, if you are familiar with Judeo-Christian History.

Thank you Michael because I will be one of many who to actively enjoy God’s creation on this trail and therefore increase my quality of life.  See ya on the trail everybody!  Please watch this video and travel the trail to see his lasting work.

Message audio on “Rebuilding”

We are rebuilding at HPBC.  A building is being restored.  Lives are building rebuilt!  Rebuilding takes God’s help through hot and heavy prayers and lots of dirty, hard work!  This past sunday was a very powerful service that marked a turning point in our powerful, local church!  If you missed it or want to relive it, then read and listen to the full audio here Sept12Rebuild

If you only have 5 minutes to listen, then listen to this part Sept12RebuildConclusion.  Here my passion for Jesus Christ as the ultimate rebuilders of churches and lives breaks out of my chest!

The first 12 minutes includes appreciating the building efforts of our congregation and key leaders.  There is an update on our building enhancement project by Michael Gusche and building enhancement fund by Tom Rayner.  We also appreciate the 14 year ministry of Kathy Rayner as former treasurer.

The body of the message draws lessons on prayer from tracing the prayer life of Nehemiah through the rebuilding effort of Jerusalem’s wall.  Enjoy!  Listen to the whole update and sermon here Sept12Rebuild

Help us lay these down…

You can lay these down & build up High Park Baptist Church’s mission room all evenings this week!

If you want to contribute financially, please mail a cheque to “High Park Baptist Church” with a clear designation to “Building Enhancement Fund”.  The church address is HPBC, 9 Hewitt Ave, Toronto, ON, Canada, M6R 1Y4.

Thanks for your interest and participation.  We are making a great space together!

Friday night work party, plus the Saturday plan.

Tonight, Sept 10, from 7-9pm, Michael, John, Thomas, Emily and Justin are working together to restore our mission room.

I took a short video to show you the progress.

Tomorrow, Sat Sept 11, you can help rebuild in the following ways:

We need about 10 people to help fill a huge red dumpster in the parking lot from 9am-12pm

We need about 10 people to paint the bathroom and mission room trim and windows.

If you need additional motivation, know that Emily has made chocolate oatmeal cookies for tomorrow!

What is my church’s music like on Sunday?

Here is a 45 second sneak peak behind the scenes of Wednesday’s worship music rehearsal.

Dave, Norm, Tommy, Adam and Dave are praying and preparing to be used by God to touch hearts on Sunday.

See you Sunday. :)

On September 11, you can help rebuild an urban worship centre.

September 11th, 2001 was a day of death and destruction, but now September 11th, 2010 is a day of rebuilding and restoring a worship facility.  The renovations at 9 Hewitt Ave are far less controversial than the mosque at ground zero.

Please join the effort.  Please come by the parking lot doors of 9 Hewitt Avenue to help paint, fill a dumpster and lay the new floor this Saturday Sept 11 form 7-9pm and or all day Saturday September 11th.

Michael, Andrew C, Joanna, Andrew R, Margot, Justin, Steve, Thomas have made tremendous enhancements towards the goal of recovering a room to be used for a dance studio, nursery school, arts and party room, Christian education and worship room.

Andrew Connell has taken two splendid photos to record the progress.  Please explore his amazing photo gallery from around Ontario.

Before 2 days of work

Working Away…

Some kind of trap door in the middle of the old floor!

The ceremonial final piece!

After 2 days of work

The whole building needs about 300K in a “Building Enhancement Fund”, but this first phase is a target of 6K.

People can mail a cheque to “High Park Baptist Church” with a clear designation to “Building Enhancement Fund”.

The church address is HPBC, 9 Hewitt Ave, Toronto, ON, Canada, M6R 1Y4.

Thanks for your interest and participation.

We can make a great space together!

Help the building enhancement projects at my church.

There is a building enhancement project (BEP) you can be a part of at my church.

Video tour: What to expect on Sunday!

I’d love to have you come to church service on Sunday at 10:30am.

Do you wonder, “What will I see at church on any given Sunday?”

This 2 minute video blog that I did, with something in my teeth, may answer the question and make you feel ease of access on Sunday.

See ya Sunday!

Saying sorry is smart!

Listen to 17 minutes of me speaking to my church about how to help themselves, our church and their co-workers to say sorry to God.

Sept5SmartPeopleSaySorryTogether

I enjoy explaining how smart it is to say sorry to God.  Acts 3:19-20 in the Message Bible by Eugene Peterson reads, ”Now it’s time to change your ways! Turn to face God so he can wipe away your sins, pour out showers of blessing to refresh you, and send you the Messiah he prepared for you, namely, Jesus.”

My church has a special evening service planned for September 26th that lays out an opportunity for us all to say orry to God together and then ask his help as we dedicate this ministry year to his honor and fame!  I hope you can join in on this special prayer time of saying sorry for the past and dedicating the future to God.

Sept 1 means a new apartment on Roncesvalles

So last night, Aug 31, I spent my first night in my new place at the intersection of Roncesvalles Ave. and Fermanagh Ave.

That means that this morning, September 1st, I had my first morning routine in my new place.

It was a lovely rest. I felt free and fresh. New place with new adventures and new memories.

I hope the condo buyer will find it to be the perfect fresh start for their stage of life, as I believe my Ronces Pastor pad will be the perfect home base for the fresh start to this season of life and ministry.  I am praying the condo will sell quickly for full asking price.

My  commute is now a 7 minutes stroll down Toronto’s best village, which is under construction for renewal and renovation!
