A Spiritual Harvester’s Prayer

July 8, 2010

The inspiration for my July 5th sermon came from the Bible paragraph in Matthew 9:35-38. (I quote it below so you can read it)

Jesus teaches a prayer that is the first step to solving a problem that moved him and moves many people, like me.

Our present situation, at High Park Baptist Church, is strategic planning.  We are in a loving labor toward greater convergence between this church, this neighbourhood and this Savior.  I want this sermon to help that process.

I hope you are moved to pray this hot and heavy prayer…Enjoy!

July5HarvestPrayer

“And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”  (Matthew 9:35-38, English Standard Version of the Holy Bible)

My cousin’s husband just preached on direction in life and that comes down to two principles:
    1) Is it a compassionate act?
    2) Does it bring glory to God and build His Kingdom?

    I like it!
