Father’s Day

Strong Fathers are important to society.

I appreciate the character contributions of these Father figures in my life.

David Gallagher: “Go for it”, consistency, hard work, generosity.

Murray Coles: Mentorship, stewardship, disciplines of a godly man. Govern with dignity, wisdom and patient listening.

Ron Burdock: Encouragement, affirmation, next steps, partnership and networking, global activism.

Bill Underwood: Evangelism, follow-up, accountability, responsiblity, integrity.

Thanks Gentlemen!

Oranje Experience

It is Saturday June 19th.  I am planning to watch the Holland v. Japan game this morning at a friend’s house before a wedding of two great friends from church.

On June 14th Holland fans swarmed the School Bakery and Cafe and I wanted you to see the fun I had.

Raphael Dasselaar made sure I was appropriately dressed for the 2-0 victory over Denmark.

I’m half english and half irish. Since Northern Ireland is not in, I support 1. ENG, 2. NED, 3. GER.

I was drafted as a pro cheerleader friend today. Dutch are a hot second option! Plus, I like there colors…blonde, blue and oranJe.

Here is a video:

Friends were on CBC and asked where they got these great outfits!

HUP Holland HUP.

Shad K

I really like SHAD.

His skills and style are taking over the scene.

He is a man with a message.

I think I first heard him through his connection to some events in connection with Stephen Lewis and some stuff at North Park.

Tennis Puns

Adam Rumball The Christian life is like doubles tennis…serving well helps the team win.

Toronto tweek on the World Cup

Locally, England will be well represented at the Dizzy in Roncesvalles Village.  Little Italy and Portugal are right up the street on College and Dundas, respectively.  I am prepared for lots of honking and flag waving.  Speaking of flag waving and local content….Watch K’Naan’s Official World Cup Song “Waving Flag” here on QTV via YouTube.  K’Naan and I have the same hat supplier on Big It Up on Queen Street West!

Personally, my enjoyment of the FIFA World Cup here in Toronto in enhanced by the members of the AIA Soccer Tour to Northern Ireland.  They helped my skills and my appreciation of the beautiful game.  It has the power to unite and divide cities, like Belfast and Toronto.

Think about it on a National scale.  I wish Canada was in the World Cup so TFC’s star Dwayne DeRosario (see photo below) could play and do his bird wings goal dance.  However, would having Canada in the World Cup divide or unite Canada’s diverse ethnic fabric?

Hot and Heavy Prayers

It is Thursday and I am heading home after my small group here at the church.

I wanted to introduce the sermon series we are starting this week.

Starting this Sunday at High Park Baptist Church, we will focus on praying with intimacy and power.

Specifically, key leaders of our church will be speaking in an effort to focus our community on some of the hot and heavy prayers of the Bible.

Men and women of faith crying out to God.

What examples of prayer do we see in the Bible?

What prayers stir the heart of God?

What shapes the way you pray?

Could you learn a bit more?

Let’s enter the fall intimate and powerful with God through reflecting on the hot and heavy prayers of the Bible.

Join us Sunday.

Fedoral Case

Question 1: What is with the hats?

Simply a global movement of style renaissance starting in Toronto and Atlanta! :)

There is a fedoriterity and fedorarority recruiting.  Just check out my facebook!

Question 2: Where did you get it?

Big It Up…while supplies last.

Adam and Meg @ the Rivoli

Adam Truax and Meg Tinmouth, band name is Axe to Mouth, rocked the Rivoli.  The show was advertised on 102.1 The Edge.

I took a back stage interview, but cannot get it off my Blackberry…rookie blogger mistake…haha!

A picture will have to do until I get better at this.

Like the fedora?

Video & BBQ: Athletes In Action Toronto

Watch this 7:29 Sport & Faith video by Morgan Donaldson, of AIA Toronto.

Monday night I was at the AIA Toronto Summer kick off BBQ with many of the stars in the video above.  Games broke out (see pic below) at Monica’s house with Morgan, Dwight and some great and competitive people.  Pete will be biking X-Canada soon so he was looking great.  I learned I do not like veggie burgers, but I love Greg’s sweater imported from Australia.  Next week is Ultimate frisbee.

High Park House Fire

An explosion followed by a 3-alarm blaze to a hertiage home (1850) awoke the residents near Indian Road and Garden Ave in the High Park neighbourhood of Toronto.  Three families associated with our church were awoken by the explosion.  (more after pic)

No lives were lost.  One nice thing was that it brought the neighbours out to talk.  While talking to a church member, I spotted my High School gym teacher and football coach, Mr. Hank Spencer.  That was a nice thing that came out of a bad blast.  I hope it draws the community together and pray it brings them to church on Sunday.

My 2nd Anniversary

This past Sunday was my 2nd anniversary at High Park Baptist Church, which is 102.

I was given some very meaningful words and gifts of appreciation.  Thank you for standing and working together with me HPBC.  Love you all in Christ.

I hope you rumbloggers can be a part of my future years in person or from a distance through prayer, resourcing and encouragement.

Here is a pic of my face at my place…

Forgive One Another

Here is the live audio of my message from Sunday June 6 at High Park Baptist Church.  I praypared it hoping that people would understand and experience the freedom that comes from true forgiveness.
